Today is the summer solstice in the northern hemisphere which marks the onset of summer and the sun shines for the longest time on this day in the year. The temperatures are soaring here in California. Kids are off school, now they want to enjoy the break with some sweet treats (we are a family with sweet tooth 🙂 ). However, I still want to give them something that is healthy and soothing for the heat. I will be the happiest when I come across recipes that are easy to make ;). This is one such recipe that is tasty, healthy and easy to make.
Misti Doi is a very popular dessert in West Bengal, a state in Eastern part of India. This dessert can be sweetened using sugar or jaggery. Bengali desserts are rich in taste but have mild sweetness. Years ago, I ate this for the first time at a friend’s place who is from West Bengal. Having a sweet tooth, I had to try this at home. This is such a simple recipe, can’t go wrong at all.
Ingredients
thick curds/hung curds/greek yogurt 1 1/2 cups
condensed milk 1/4 cup
saffron strand powder a pinch
cardamom powder a pinch
Method
Preheat the oven to 200 deg F.
Mix all the ingredients, taste and adjust the sweetness to your liking.
Transfer it to a oven safe bowl, bake it for 35-40 mins.
Remove from the oven and let cool completely.
Refrigerate this atleast for 4 hours and serve chilled.
Love it, saved your recipe!
