Recently came across an article which listed so many benefits of eating black beans. Among all what caught my attention was, it has high protein content and also fiber. Being a vegetarian am always on the look out on how to increase the protein intake. Bought the dried beans from the local grocery store, as I opted not to use canned ones :).. Have been trying out many recipes with black beans, this is one which is tasty, healthy and also easy to make with an Indian twist..Kids preferred the patty in their burgers :)..
Ingredients
black beans 1 cup (soaked, cooked as per package instruction)
bread crumbs ¾ cup
garlic 4 pods, minced
onion ½ cup, finely chopped
chaat masala 1 tsp
green chilly paste ¾ tsp
red chilly powder ½ tsp
lime juice 2 tsp
spinach 10 leaves, finely chopped
salt to taste
oil to shallow fry
Method
Mash the cooked black beans and mix in rest of the ingredients except oil.
Take a small scoop of the mixture and shape them like a patty.
Place the patties on a heated skillet and drizzle very lil oil.
Let cook on medium flame for 3-4 mins.
Flip the patties, drizzle very lil oil and cook for another 2-3 mins.
assembling burger
Toast mini burger buns.
Assemble the burger by layering thin slice of onion, thin slice of tomato, slice of avocado, black bean patty, ketchup, cheese (optional), lettuce in between the burger buns.
