Coconut Coriander Chutney

Coriander coconut chutney is a typical side dish for all the south Indian breakfast dishes like idli, dosa, puma, poori and the the list goes on.

Ingredients

for chutney
coconut 1 cup
coriander leaves 1/2 cup
salt to taste
tamarind paste or kokum extract 1/2 tsp
green chillies 4-6
jaggery 1/3 tsp
split channa dhal roasted 1/2 cup
water as required

for seasoning
oil 2 tsp
mustard seeds 1 tsp
urddal 2 tsp
kadhipatha/curry leaves 8 leaves

Method

for seasoning
Heat oil in a pan.
Add mustard and let splutter.
Add the urddhal and let cook for a min till its light brown.
Add the kadhipatha/curry leaves and turn of the heat.

for chutney
Add all the ingredients in a mixer.
Add lil water at a time and grind the chutney in to a fine paste.
Pour the seasoning over the chutney and serve.
