Burger with veggie patty

Potato dishes tops the list of my comfort food. The burger patty has a good combination of flavors – sweet, spice and tangy. Hence the burger doesn’t need a lot of layering. I am assembling the burger on toasted buns, with dates sauce/chutney, lettuce, thin slices of onion and the patty.

Ingredients

for veggie patty
potato 3 small
carrot 1
peas 1/2 cup
chaat masala 1/2 tsp
garam masala 1/2 tsp
green chilly paste 1/2 tsp or 1 chilly finely chopped
garlic 1 pod finely chopped
salt to taste
bread slices 2
lime juice 1/2 tsp

for coating
maida 2 tsps
salt pinch
garam masala 1/4 tsp
water

for burger assembly
date chutney
onion 1
lettuce

Method

for veggie patty
Boil potato, carrot and peas. Mash them well.
Add the masala powders, green chilly, garlic (raw), lime juice and salt
Take the bread slices, soak in water and squeeze them.
Mix in the soaked bread to the veggie mixture.
Make small patty, set aside.

Mix the ingredients for the coating into a thin paste
Use a iron skillet, heat 2 tsp oil place the patty and cook till crunchy surface.

for burger assembly
Cut onion into thin long slices, and heat them with a tsp oil till soft.
Cut small pieces of lettuce and set aside.
Heat the burger bun till lightly brown.
Apply date chutney, on the buns.
Place a patty, then layer with onion and lettuce. Cover with the other side of the bun.
