Tomato Danish is a favorite snack for my kids. They get it whenever we go to Starbucks, a coffee shop. I tried to look online for the recipe could not find it. I came up with this recipe after tasting this Danish, it tastes just like the one we eat at Starbucks. If you are a tomato fan, you will love the crunchy flaky puff pastry sheet topped with cheesy tomato spread and mozzarella cheese. This recipe has few ingredients, not much prep work needed. So can be easily made in short notice. We also love to have sweet along with the savory dishes. I make a sweet version of the danish too for which I have used raspberry preserve, mascarpone cheese and apples(or any stone fruit).
puff pastry sheet 1
three cheese tomato sauce 1 cup (I got from Trader’s joe)
mozzarella cheese 1 cup
Preheat the oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
Defrost the puff pastry sheet according the to the instructions on the box.
Dust some flour on a cutting board and spread the puff pastry sheet on it.
Using a rolling pin even the surface.
Cut them in 3X3 inches squares, using a knife draw (don’t cut the sheet) a boundary line and inside the boundary line with a fork make some holes, so the sheet doesn’t fully puff up in the middle.
Inside the boundary line spread 2 tsps full of the cheesy tomato spread and top it with some mozzarella cheese.
Bake this for 8-10 mins till fully done.
Enjoy the Danish for breakfast or as a snack.
three cheese tomato sauce can be replaced by
– raspberry jam (or any kind of jam) + ricotta cheese
