A twist to the idli which we normally eat with sambar and chutney. No doubt idli with sambar and chutney is a yummy combination. This is a simple recipe that can be eaten by itself. No hassle of making the sides. In the mango season add grated raw mango instead of lime juice which makes this extra special.
Idli 4 cooked and cooled
Onion 1 sliced thin long
Chutney powder/idli powder 6 tsp
salt 1/2 tsp
oil 3 tsp
grated mango 1 tblsp or lime juice 1/2 tsp
mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
urdhal 1 tsp
curry leaves 6 leaves (optional)
Cut the idli into small pieces and set aside.
Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds and let it splutter.
Add urdhal, fry till golden brown.
Add onion, curry leaves and salt, let cook till onion is pink in color.
Mix in the cut idli, chutney powder/idli powder.
Add grated mango or lime juice, mix well and serve.
