Saboodana khichadi

One of my favs which i learnt from my mom. This is a quick make for breakfast or anytime snack.


saboodana (Tapioca) 1 cup
onion 2 chopped finely
green chillies 6 slit
coriander 1/2 cup
mustard 1 tsp
peanuts 1/2 cup
lime juice 1 tsp
oil 3 tblsp
salt to taste


Wash saboodana in water and drain all water, set aside for 30 – 40 mins or till it is soft. (Can sprinkle abt 1/4 cup water if required, Dont add too much water to soak, else the saboodana will dissolve).
Roast peanuts till light brown color and make a coarse powder of it.
Grind coriander and green chillies into a coarse paste.
Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, let it crack.
Add onion and saute till translucent.
Add the soaked soft saboodana, coriander – green chilly paste, salt and stir well.
Cook this for 5 mins soo everything mixes well, then add lime juice, peanut powder.
Mix and serve
